Late PRASHANTA SHRESTHA (1968-1999)

Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from Fine Arts Campus, Kathmandu

Prashanta Memorial Society - 2003
Prashanta Memorial Society was founded in 2003, with the aim of creating a
revolving trust fund that would organize art activities and award partial scholar-
ships to talented young artists in the name of “Prashanta Scholorship Award”.

Prashanta’s words:

Being a young artist, obviously, the sense of beauty and youth comes to me repeatedly
for a concreate defination. For me, beauty is something beyond reach, but still, can be
realized spiritually. I go on disturbing the silence of the colour as they keep on evoking
laughter and pain as the beauty reflects there.

Sometime, I stick on with the same family of colours thus creating a bizzare blend. I have
tried to fathom the currents of red and blue and the deepeing figure relating them to the subconscious
theme of relationship.

Ofcourse, along the course of time, I have seen many changes in my internal as well as external life. That definitely affect my mental image and thus, the images, I depict on the canvas. The changes are infact changes in my life-that continiously keep going towards an infinite goal. I wish the changes might go on forever. That is the significance of my livelihood. However, I am somewhere constant-my eyes are constant, and so my hands are-my spiritually.

Human figure and environment are undoutely the predominant options for the artists in general and I cannot claim of being exception. Being a part of the whole existence, I have approached toward a point where the two components intermingle. My latest efforts are seeing the unavoidable imprints of greenary and the blue sky in the minds of the people who exit by the garce of both.

From the land of Himalayas, my paintings may bring the chilly waves. At the same time it can transfer the entire blaze it bears from with in. My visualization of the world, society and men being there.
